Final Fantasy XIII Scan Brings New Character Details
A digicam image has surfaced on the internet and is quickly making its rounds through Japanese blogs and 2channel.

Presumably from Weekly Shonen Jump, the focus is heavy on the white-haired boy seen in the E3 2009 trailer. The article states that his name is Hope Estheim.

According to the details revealed about him, his weapon is a boomerang. There’s also a bit of friction between himself and Snow, following the events occurring in the demo when Hope’s mother falls from a ruined bridge. To add to that, a point is made about his short temper. Also mentioned is how he hugs Vanille.

Speaking of Vanille, her weapon is described as being similar to a fishing rod. Enemies are struck by a needle on the end of the wire. Also in line with battles, Lightning’s limit break has been revealed to be called Area Blast. Sounds flashy and, knowing Square Enix, it probably is.

A final point the magazine touches upon is about the l’Cie. My Japanese is far from perfect, but from what I can gather, l’Cie who fail to complete their mission within the designated time period become “Cie corpses” – a monster.
