Make Millions in a day! (Final Fantasy viii)

OK, i recently have began investing money in buying items to trade to the Strange Apparatuses in areas such as Dangruf Wadi, King Ranperre’s Tomb, Maze of Shakrami, Crawlers Nest, just to name a few. So here’s the scoop. Now, this will involve investing some money, but the profits that will be gained far outweight the investment. I have made millions of gil so far. So everyone knows the Strange apparatuses that exist all over vanadiel. You can trade one infiniti core (AH Others> Misc, go for around 3-10k a pop) and one chip ( Found in port bastok behind warehouses , there is a NPC goblin behind them down the stairs selling different colored chips. Each one pertains to a different Strange Apparatus. Just trade one infinit core and one chip to the strange apparatus at a time. So here’s the rewards. The absolute best is the Rune Weapons that you can get- Rune staff( 1 mil) Rune club(200k) Rune Baghnaks(30k) Rune Halberd(500k) Rune Bow(130k) Rune Arrow(2k) Rune Chopper(150k) and Rune Axe(150k). All of the Rune Weapons have Latent Effects that are wonderful, and are equippable my black mages. Besides Rune Weapons, you can also get Cermet chunks( in sets of 8), Adaman Nuggets(25k), Arcane Flowerpot(250k), and different Clusters according to chip you used. Ok, so here is what NOT TO DO. Dont do this when the moon is within 26-74% phase, the items you get will be horrible, and you will have wasted your money. Try to go as close to 100% as possible to maximize drops.Make sure you use the color chip according to the area you are. Red is Dangruf Wadi, the other areas i am not yet sure, If anyone knows and would like to add to this post it would be great and even help myself out. But over all, i have made millions off the precious items i have received doin this over and over, you can do it as many times as you woudl like! I have found that the more you do it in a row, the better ur drops are. I usually buy 10 infiniti cores and 10 chips at a time. Hope you can use this post to make as much money as I have off this, and feel free to ask me more questions. The Strange apparatus in Dangruf Wadi is at F11 just walk through the West wall. Thanks, and hope u all enjoy!!!

Clothcraft 1-100 (Final Fantasy XI Gil)

0-1 Grass Thread
Wind Crystal
Yagudo Necklace

You can farm yag necklaces or buy for ~300 windy AH. The yield is 3 for a low synth and up to 9 for HQ. But on average its 3. So 3×300=900g a stack, usually 1.5-3k on AH. Do as many as possible because you go through thread quick when makin cloth. Also it’s a very good way to make some quick cash HQ’ing these at high lvl’s cause you can make stacks that sell relativley easy. I recomend selling them in sandy cause the thread is used in leathercraft and price is jacked up a little there do to lack of materials.

0-4 Grass Cloth
Earth Crystal
Grass Thread x3

You should have saved most of the thread you have made. Most likely its gonna take about 8-10 stacks of thread to make it lvl 4.

4-8 Cape
Earth Crystal
Grass Cloth x2
Grass Thread

Very easy synth. 500g on Kujata’s Jueno AH for some reason and they sell good. Don’t ask me why. Most likely you will sell these to NPC for I think about 30 gil.

8-10 Hachimaki
Wind Crystal
Grass Cloth x2

Again a easy synth. You might have to make more grass cloth at this point but it should be easy. These don’t sell in AH. So you can sell to NPC or you can always desynth what you make. Just remember that you will fail just as much as you will success.

10-19 Linen Thread
Lightning Crystal
Flax Flower x2 ——-sold at guild, don’t buy at AH due to inflated prices.

What can I say, this is cheap and easy, plus you need a lot of it. Linen thread is also a great seller in AH, ranging from 12-16k in AH.

19-22 Linen Cloth
Earth Crystal
Linen Thread x3

Not a bad profit selling stacks on AH if you start from scratch. You can also do yag fletchings earlier but if you make your linen thread>linen cloth>you can make a profit rather than loss with fletchings.

23-27 Heko Obi
Earth Crystal
Grass Thread
Cotton Cloth x2

Your gonna lose some gil here. Sells to NPC for about 160-200 gil. You can also do fly lures, but it requires a little bone skill.

27-30 Fisherman’s Tunica
Earth Crystal
Linen Thread
Linen Cloth
Sheep Leather
Cotton Cloth x3

Cost a little more to make, can’t remember specifics, but it sells quick in most towns. I’d did this during the fish botting era so everyone was fishing and these sold fast for profit.

30-35 Wool Thread
Lightning Crystal
Sheep Wool x2

Sheep Wool is about is hard to come by sometimes. You can camp the guild in Sandy and buy it there though for cheap or you can farm sheepskins. This is a good time to level up some leathercraft on the side doing sheepskinX2+Wind crystal=Sheep wool. Oh, and btw you need to make a lot of it.

35-37 Wool Cloth
Earth Crystal
Wool Thread x3

I do not recomend selling stacks on the AH as a moneymaker due to the fact you will prolly lose cash or break even. Wool isn’t used in too many recipes for skillup or high level HQ items.

37-42 Bird Fletching
Wind Crystal
Bird Feather x2

So cheap, So easy. You should fly through these lvls if you sell to NPC and can handle small loss. The fletchings sell for crap to NPC but you can sell at Jueno or Sandy AH or bazaar in front of woodworking guilds to high level woodworkers that make arrows from these. Usually sell for 1.5k-3k. Also if your gonna do the AH route have patience cause your invtentory fills up quick during these levels, cause one stack of bird feathers makes 6 stacks of fletchings.

42-52 Insect Fletching
Wind Crystal
Insect Wing x2

Same as bird fletchings, but easy to obtain while leveling one your character through the 45-50 cause all you do is fight beetles. I saved all mine and ended up with about 9 stacks.

51-53 Silk Cloth
Earth Crystal
Silk Thread x3

The cloth sells really quick if you wanna use this as your money maker. And the thread is always in stock do to lower lvl players and gil farmers making a easy buck. Cloth sells for 30-32k sometimes cheaper when I was in this phase but unfortunantley it shot up to over 130k. ; ;

53-62 Green Ribbon
Wind Crystal
Silk Cloth

This is why people always buy the cloth right here, everyone seems to be doing this part forever. This the cheapest way to raise skill through these levels also. So this also becomes very important to make your own cloth, because your gonna need every bit of cash you have to make it through this part. The green ribbon sells for ~2k to NPC. The only real advice I have here is know a high level clothcrafter to desynth these back down for you so you don’t break the bank.

62-69 Silk Headband
Earth Crystal
Silk Cloth
Carbon Fiber

The headband sells to NPC for about 2.2k. This is a slow part cause after 60 the skill-ups slow down to a halt. This part also helps to have a high level alchemist who can make carbon fiber from bomb ash. That will definately cut down on the cost.

69-72 Black Chocobo Fletchings
Wind Crystal
Black Chocobo Feather x2

This part sucked so far for me. Each feather sells for about 1.2k in Windy choco stable only when windy is first in conquest AND you have to be windhurstian to buy. Thank god I had a mule to buy it for me. But if you have patience you can sell these in any AH for about 4-5k, sometimes up to 10k in sandy due to woodworkers makin arrows.

72-78 Rainbow Thread
Lightning Crystal
Spiderweb x2

When I did this the webs were only 5-6k each. Now since people seemed to have effd up the market it has jumped to like 10k-15k each. You can sell these for ~350k a stack at Jueno or Windy AH. Sells quite well.

78-80 Rainbow Cloth
Earth Crystal
Rainbow Thread x3

This sucks to fail but in the end you can make small profit selling on AH in Jueno. There are other routes around this, but this is what I did because I saved all my thread.

80-82 Jester Headbands
Earth Crystal
Dodge Headband
Linen Cloth
Cotton Thread

Alla says this caps at 81, but I’m sure I capped this out at 82. These are dropped from Malboros in Rolanberry, or you can buy on AH for like 2k. This is the alternative to rainbow cloth if you start them earlier. Sell to NPC for loss.

82-85 Devotee’s Mitts
Earth Crystal
Zealot’s Mitts
Linen Thread
Silk Cloth

Zealot’s mitts sell on every AH, so you gotta do some traveling. They sell for more than devotee’s do because people know that these are used more for skill up rather than equips. Make them and resell on AH for loss. You can also do Masters Sitabaki for less, but sometimes can be a little more difficult to find on AH.

85-88 Ahrat’s Hakama
Earth Crytal
Silk Cloth x2
Velvet Cloth x2
Silk Thread
Sheep Leather x2

It uses a lot of materials, but it is the cheapest route for this level gap. You can sell on AH for practically the same price as selling to NPC just without the tax.

88-94 Errant Slops
Earth crystal
Rainbow Thread
Ram Leather
Silk Cloth x2
Velvet Cloth x2

Lot’s of money is lost in this period. Alternative is Giant Bird Fletchings which don’t sell on AH. Because of the prices of the feathers for a stack and what they sell for to NPC you can actually do better off on errant slops. But it is very server dependant and they are rarely in stock.

94-95 Elite Beret
Earth Crystal
War Beret
Pheonix Feather

War Beret’s are crafted by high level leathercrafters and sold for ~30k on AH. You can resell on AH for ~20k which sell very poorly. This is very cheap for a 90+ synth and you can start ealier if you can get items in stock.

95-98 Dance Shoes
Earth Crystal
Moccasins
Rainbow Thread
Rainbow Cloth

These will hurt you and they hurt bad.

98-100 Dalamatica or Errant Cape

If that doesn’t work and you need FFXI gil fast I recommend The MMORPG Exchange Final Fantasy XI Gil providers. They’ve been in business since the game started, delivers directly to your mog house even when you’re away, and are fairly priced. Check your ffxi server here .

Crafting FAQ (FFXI Gil)

A brief introduction to Crafting
FFXI has a very extensive crafting system with a variety of types on offer to you. For the record, Fishing technically counts as a craft as it has a skill level to rise, but does not work in the same way as the rest you can chose from. Many people will tell you to get rich you have to take up a craft, this is half true. You will get rich, once you reach Lv100 with a craft and can make HQ versions of high selling items (more about those points in a moment). You do not make money levelling up a craft. More often than not you will make a loss. Keep that in mind when taking up a craft as, even if you farm most of your ingredients, this will cost you money.

I am not trying to put you off taking up a craft, but am making sure you consider how much time and money must be invested to get rich out of it. Even though you can craft from the second you start the game I do not recommend trying it until you already have quite a nice fund of Gil. Many crafts would not reach Lv100 even if you invest 1,000,000 Gil, so keep that in mind too.

What you need to know
High skill level crafting players are often sought after by Linkshells to make items from God monster drops and so on. So, if you get a craft very high, your services would be in high demand from all the End Game players. And here are the things you should always remember.

How Crafting works

  • You gain skill up points (which range from 0.1, 0.3 etc) for successfully crafting of items fit for your current total level. Every time the total reaches 1.0 you gain one level of skill.
  • To craft you require a crystal and ingredients.
  • There is a chance to fail to craft. If you fail you will always lose the crystal you tried and possible one, all, or none, of the other ingredients.
  • As you level up a craft the ingredients you require will become rarer and more expensive it helps if you can farm for what you need, so use the farming tips in this guide to minimise loss.
  • At Lv8 with a craft you must take a test given by an NPC from the appropriate Guild for your craft. Then after that another test must be taken every ten levels or you cannot progress any further.
  • You can only have one craft at Lv100, the rest can cap at Lv60. If you try to get another craft over sixty while having one at one hundred it will start to lose skill points.
  • HQ means High Quality and is a term given if you get a better-than-normal result from crafting (you will know you have done an HQ as you will receive a different quantity or a slightly different name of the item you made and the animation will be different). The higher level your craft skill is above the cap of an item the more chance you have of doing an HQ.
  • There are literally hundreds of recipes for each craft so I cannot list them all here. Inside the Guild of your chosen craft are three NPC’s which can give you Image Support (which improves your results) and also tell you what you should be crafting to raise your skill.
  • To improve your results and stop having as many failures after a certain rank of a craft you can start handing in things you make to an NPC for Guild Points. If you amass a certain amount of these you can buy pieces of equipment with them which makes your results better. The downside of earning these points is that you make a 100% loss doing it. Also, you can only earn a certain number of Guild Points per Earth day.
What crafts are available?
As I said, you have a nice variety of crafts to choose from when looking for what suits you. Crafts depend on each other for some recipes so if you are taking one craft all the way you will also need to raise at least one more half way so you can make everything on offer to you. Here are the crafts that you can take up in FFXI:
  • Smithing
  • Goldsmithing
  • Leathercraft
  • Bonecraft
  • Fishing
  • Woodworking
  • Clothcraft
  • Cooking
  • Alchemy
Which crafts make the most money?
In theory, every craft can make you rich as long as you put in the time and money needed to level it all the way to Lv100. The key thing to remember about crafting is that the most amount of money is made from HQ results of high level items. Each has its own best seller items that people use to make Gil after working so hard.

If I had to categorise what makes the most (in terms of one time large sums of money) I would say the most popular is; Goldsmithing, then Smithing, then Bonecraft. Goldsmithing is especially expensive to level up, but is also the most rewarding once you take it all the way. These would give you payouts of profits around 1,000,000 on certain things (after deducting ingredient costs) and would definitely make you rich. There are other crafts which provide you money over time and in no large sum amounts. You must decide yourself which kind of income you prefer, and take into consideration the cost of trying to level up a craft which high payouts at Lv100 skill.

Craft Information
The Guild for each craft (there are two in each of the three Kingdoms) sell you some basic items needed for crafting things, but not crystals. The Guild shop is re-supplied every game day as it opens so if you want to get supplies you might need to camp them as other players will be after the cheap ingredients as well.

Here is a run down of what I think of each crafting type, what sub-crafts it requires, and what makes the most money from it. Also, I will suggest the key types of items it requires and also the element of crystal most used for it. The links below each craft lead to a run down of what items you can make at what levels to raise your skill level (for others, consult NPCs in your crafts Guild).

Smithing

The craft is centred on areas of Bastok, which is great because of the close proximity to so many mines which supply the ingredients it needs. It uses a lot of Fire Crystals for its recipes which instantly means a high cost to level. This craft requires a huge amount of Ore found in Mines all around Vana’diel. See the Mining section of this guide if you want to know specific details about where to find what Ore. Keep in mind that the Guild for Smithing can supply Copper and Tin cheaply.

This craft also has some need for skill in Goldsmithing and small amounts of Leathercraft and Woodworking. You will mostly make tools for the higher level crafters at the low levels, and then later create many different types of weapons. At high levels you can make Adaman armour.

Goldsmithing

Another of the crafters centred in Bastok, this craft is one many people have as their main goal for loads of money at End Game. Its ingredients are very expensive so put serious thought into this craft before taking it up and check your server’s economy to see what you would need to farm to save money. This can also be made less expensive by Mining for ingredients, see the relative section.

Some recipes require small amounts of Woodworking, Smithing and Alchemy. At higher levels you can make elemental rings, ingots of all kinds and some specific kinds of weapons.

Leathercraft

This craft is centred on San d’Oria. Farming for ingredients of this craft can help bring down the cost of levelling it a lot. It requires Dark Crystals which is particularly expensive, but you can farm some. This is a craft which many others depend on, so even if you are not planning on taking this all the way, you will probably have to at least level it a bit sooner or later.

Bonecraft

Everything you need for this craft could easily be farmed for and is in close proximity to its Guild (which is in Windurst). A lot of people take up Bonecraft because you can craft a Scorpion Harness, when you get it higher plus it has some nice looking glasses that you can buy with Guild Points. Wind Crystals and Earth Crystals are the most used element for this craft and are easy to farm for.

A lot of things you need to make to level up this craft depend on Leathercraft and Woodworking to a certain degree.

Fishing

See the fishing section for information on this and other aspects of taking this craft up. It is not a high earner in comparison to the others as it does not work quite the same way at all.

Woodworking

If you are either a Ranger or a Ninja, you might want to seriously consider taking up this craft as it provides things you require constantly. Keep in mind to actually save money making the items yourself if you are either of those classes, you may need to get it high level so you can get HQ results. You will make tons of different kinds of arrows in this craft, so that is the reason a lot of Rangers take this up. Ninja’s will be interested to know that this craft also makes Shihei (quite possibly your most wanted tool). As with the arrows, to actually lower your costs from buying things straight from the Auction House farm for your items or get the craft high enough to consistently get HQ results. This would vary from server to server.

Depending on arrow type, this craft might require some skill in Bonecraft and Smithing (its down to what type of arrow head they need).

Clothcraft

This craft’s Guild is in Windurst (a very short distance from the Bonecraft Guild). This craft is very like cooking in its net gain as you slowly raise levels in it. I would say that it is a consistent earner at higher levels like Woodworking or Leathercraft as well. This craft makes many armours and accessories for Mage type jobs in particular and does not deal in heavy armour. At the highest levels of this craft you can make the Errant Gear and un-curse some Cursed objects which are highly valued by Linkshells.

This craft primarily uses Earth, Lightning and Wind Crystals.

Cooking

Many people describe this craft as a job because there is no massive payout regardless of level you get it to. This craft is more a constant earner, a slow and steady income like a job rather than lump sums of millions. With the current changes to food in FFXI I understand that some value has been lost, but more variety of things to create has opened up. Prior to changes you were left with making only specific types of pie and kabob to make money, now you can do a lot more based on the economy of your server. Keep an eye on it to see what is in high demand. Consider the new fish dishes and also other Mage based foods. This craft requires a heavy intake of Fire Crystals.

Alchemy

On my server the price of alchemy based items has sky rocketed. Sneak Oils and Prism Powders in particular have more than doubled in value meaning it’s a good time to be an alchemist, especially a high skill level one. This is also a reasonably cheap craft to level up and requires Ice crystals, which are the cheapest to buy and easy to farm without competition.

A crafting alternative; supplying the crafters
This is something to consider if you just do not have the time or cash to put into levelling up a craft. The farming part of this guide is especially helpful if you chose to do this method.

Each server is different, and each server will have a specific craft which many people have taken up. This tip requires you to look at your server’s economy and see a pattern. See what is in the highest demand in what cities and how available they are.

You might notice, for example, that since the Bonecraft Guild is in Windurst that Wind Crystals, Bone Chips, Scorpion Claws and Beetle Shells sell the best and fastest there. You would then search the farming guide for the nearest area to it that drops those items and go farm them. You are supplying the players to lazy to farm items for their craft and making a profit doing it for them at no cost to yourself. It helps if you watch the market around where you spend most of your time. Also shop around and see where the best place to sell is (also, take into consideration the tax you must pay).

You might also notice through Mining or another earner you can try that if you sell in a specific place things will sell faster because of crafter demand. I made quite a large customer base that also comes to me when I sell my Mining results in Bastok Markets, for example.

Obviously this is not going to get you a massive 1,000,000 payout or anything like that, but it is a good source of income for someone not wishing to try levelling a craft.

Earning Commission
If you get a craft to Lv100 (congratulations on that!) you must now look at other ways to make money. Of course you can farm and sell HQ results of lower level things, but there are other methods available to you now. As I hinted at above, Linkshells will often look for high skill level crafters to make things for them from God drops and so on. This is a chance for you to make money. If you hang around in Lower Jeuno you might see people doing shouts which are asking for help to make an item. Basically they provide the crystal and ingredients. All you need to do is try and craft what they ask for. However, why should you do this for free? Charge people for the trouble of what you are doing for them. Base this fee on what the item is that you are making for them.

As an example (it would vary from person to person), I know someone who wanted a Scorpion Harness made for him and he paid the crafter who did it 200,000 Gil commission. Set your own prices and what you are happy with.

Summary
Assuming you have a crafting skill level either double that of an item you are trying to craft (thus making the chance of HQ much better) or near enough maxed out you can make double the usual Auction House value per successful craft. If you manage to get an HQ version of an extremely good piece of equipment like Scorpion Harness you will make a one time profit of a few million Gil. The amount of investment any craft requires is purely based on how many of the ingredients you are willing to farm for yourself. If you farm for all the ingredients and even the crystals you require levelling a craft will technically cost nothing (with the exception of completing the level tests).

If that doesn’t work and you need FFXI gil fast I recommend The MMORPG Exchange Final Fantasy XI Gil providers. They’ve been in business since the game started, delivers directly to your mog house even when you’re away, and are fairly priced. Check your ffxi server here .

Have Fun!

Here is a break down of the enemies and areas you will find you gaining experience points in, listed in nine level sets. Use these hints and tips to your advantage and to come prepared for what you are fighting against. This will also help give you an idea of the variety of locations on offer throughout, as there is usually at least one other place you can go (should the most popular location by packed with other parties). The section after this about different foods should be used in connection with this one for the best and most efficient set up you can create.
Level 1-9

XP Locations: Gustaberg / Ronfaure / SarutabarutaMonsters: Various Beastmen/Worms/Vultures/Crawlers/Mushrooms/Sheep/Rabbits
When you begin as a Paladin you can solo the first nine to eleven levels by yourself around your starting Kingdom and adjoining areas. Things will get progressively slower until you really need to move on to seeking for parties. The earliest you can really party is Lv9, any lower than that and you would be putting yourself in great danger. I would recommend Lv10 or Lv11 before starting to seek as it means you ll have access to a couple more defensive spells and a good set of armour.
Although the enemies in each starting area vary, your tactics do not. You do not have very much on offer to you at the lowest levels apart from a few weak healing spells and a single weapon skill. Kill until you fall low on HP, heal until you are out of MP, and then rest and repeat. I find that what you are subbing can vary at this point, since you do not need to worry about keeping hate. Since you are soloing, try to have the best armour on offer as well and it will keep you in good stead when you begin partying. There is no need to use food at this level at all.
Level10-19
XP Locations: Konschtat Highlands / La Theine Plateau / Valkurm Dunes
Monsters: Sheep/Bees/Goblins/Lizards/Crabs/Flies/Fish
The Dunes is the only real place to get XP parties from around Lv10 onwards to Lv19/20. While seeking for Dunes parties, you can solo some monsters in either Highlands or the Plateau. When you first begin partying in the Dunes you will start with only fighting Lizards and then occasional Goblins. After that you will move onto a mixture of Crabs, Flies, and Goblins. Near the end of the zones decency you will kill Fish. Some dangerous moves to watch out for; Goblins will use Bomb Toss (Barfira will help protect against this), Lizards can petrify, Flies can do AOE damage (Barfira protects), and Fish can do a massive one hit attack on a single enemy (Screwdriver).

This is where you will get your first taster of being the main tank for a party. You probably already had some experience playing this role levelling your first job to Lv30, but this is the real stuff now. Practise provoking when you can and timing the use of heals correctly. Sadly, there is not much on offer to you to help hold the hate, but do your best. Also, try to have the best armour on offer and keep everything nicely up-to-date. You can use food here if you want, but it is not necessary. Also, do not worry about your Divine magic and concentrate on healing. Enhancing is also not a priority to level up.
This is really the range where food can be toyed with. Try out a few to see how you like the effects. If you are short on cash just go with the basic, cheapest, stuff you can get your hands on (prices vary from server to server).
Level 20-29

XP Locations: Sauromugue Champaign / Qufim Island / Yuhtunga Jungle / Yhoator JungleMonsters: Beetles/Worms/Crabs/Fish/Giants/Plants/Goblin
Although not a common choice, some people like to XP on the beetles found in a small alcove in Sauromugue Champaign. Rhino Attack can be quite painful, so be ready to help heal when you get hit by this.
Many of the tactics from Dunes carry over to Qufim. Food should still be at the low end of the price range, if you do decide to use some. There is no need to be extravagant. You will be concentrating on crabs and then fish. You may venture inside the tower to kill Giants and Goblins, if the outside is crowded. Most of these enemies have hard hitting attacks that you just have to watch out for. When giants ready an attack, unlock from it and run away in the opposite direction. If you time it right it ll give an error and the attack won t be completed.
Around Lv24/25 you can move on from Qufim way out across the sea to Yuhtunga Jungle, which is outside Kazham. A Quest is required to earn the airship pass to Kazham. Way back in the day before everyone knew about Kazham, people stayed in Qufim until Lv30, so it is possible to hang around there but it will be slow.
In the jungles you will fight mainly Mandragora. These plant type monsters are all of the Monk job and attack twice each time. It isn t as bad as it sounds, because they are actually extremely weak. Make sure your party s mages keep out of its AOE sleep attack range and you will find XP to be golden here. Nearing Lv35/36 you will start picking off Goblins as well, and then you move to the next jungle along to start on the Mandragora again. You should honestly not find levelling here any trouble, it is usually quite relaxed.
Level 30-39

XP Locations: Yhoater Jungle / Eastern Altepa Desert / Garliage Citadel / Crawlers NestMonsters: Plants, Goblin, Lizards, Beetles, Bats, Crawlers
At the start of this range you will still be in the jungle fighting the plants, with the occasional Goblin and Lizard thrown in for good measure. At around Lv32/33 you can move on to either the desert or the citadel. Many people (99%) hate the citadel, but its something we all suffer through. You would be fighting bats in there and any type of food is good for them. This can be quite tricky at first, as you will get hurt a lot. Just try to bear with it. When you are fighting the sets of three bats, be extremely wary of Jet Stream. It is a three fold attack.
In the desert, Goblins and Beetles would be your targets – watch out for Bomb Toss, as before. The only problem about this XP area is getting to it, many new players might not have the Altepa Gate Crystal allowing you to teleport out there and your White Mage will be to low level to have the spell, meaning you would need to pay someone for the service.
You will be happy to hear that your time way out in the desert or wallowing in the citadel is short lived, and you can leave them both around Lv34/35. You will move to Crawlers Nest fighting Crawlers.
At Lv37 you finally gain access to Flash, and as a result you will find it much easier to keep hate from the increasingly powerful skill chains. Begin a battle with flash and provoke. Because of MP you will only really be able to do it once or twice a fight, but that should be enough. Also, you should probably upgrade your food by this point, slightly. Level 40-49

XP Locations: Crawlers Nest / Gustav Tunnel / Quicksand Caves / Western Altepa Desert / Garliage CitadelMonsters: Crawlers, Flies, Goblins, Antican, Beetles, Bats, Spiders
You can spend a lot of time gaining XP in Crawlers Nest as it has such a wide range of monster levels. You start on Crawlers and stick with them for a while, then you move onto Flies and Beetles before coming full circle back to higher level Crawlers (though that is not until later). Keep up the usual absorbs and watch out for the AOE attacks Flies can dish out.
An alternative to the early levels of Crawlers Nest is killing Goblins and Flies in Gustav Tunnel, which is good until around Lv43. Keep watch for the usual AOE damage.
Near the middle of this range you have a bit more choice. You can either go into the desert to fight Beetles or you can go fight Beetles, Spiders, and Antican inside Quicksand Caves (the spiders are at the low end entrance). Antican can be very annoying because of high defence, AOE petrify move (which also resets hate), and AOE silence. Spiders can do Sickle Slash which hurts, a lot. It is up to you whether you are brave enough to risk taking damage from that attack. Spiders sometimes love to spam it, and one might be enough to take you out. Timing your use of Flash right against them will save your life, but usually you will just get lucky.
I know you might not want to go back to the citadel, but you can at the end of this range around Lv48-50. You can stay in Quicksand Caves if you prefer. You drop down into the basement and fight bats, which some might prefer as they do not have as dangerous attacks (it is single bat sets, not triple, so there is no Jet Stream). I preferred those, they are a lot safer than spiders.
Level 50-59

XP Locations: Quicksand Caves / Boyahda Tree / Cape Terringan / Valley of SorrowMonsters: Antican, Beetles, Crawlers, Crabs, Velociraptors, Fish, Orcs, Torama
As I mentioned in the range above, you can stay in Quicksand for a bit longer fighting the Antican (and the occasional beetle to keep chains alive). Things will start to slow down soon though, and you should move on.
You will have a reasonably long stint in the tree coming up, fighting against the old favourites of Crab and Crawler. You should be a dab hand at taking these guys on now and with even more MP and your AF to boot, you should find tanking in this level range extremely easy.
Eventually you will move to the cape, which is through the opposite end of Kuftal Tunnel. You will fight Raptors, Crabs, and Fish here. This can last you a while, eventually leading to consistent chains. The only downside about this zone is that it is quite often packed with other parties. Raptors can do a breath attack which gives disease status, which means resting will not restore HP or MP while resting. You just have to hope your White Mage can cure it, as you require your MP to keep the hate at this stage.
Around Lv58/59 you will zone just behind the cape into Valley of Sorrows to fight slightly stronger raptors and giant birds called Preytons. These birds have insane evasion and are very dangerous. They are great for finishing a chain and drop Light Crystals to, but just be wary about keeping hate against them (as magic does a ton to them, so the mages will be in danger).
Level 60-69

XP Locations: Valley of Sorrow / Labyrinth of Ononzo / Bibiki Bay / Boyahda TreeMonsters: Velociraptor, Preyton, Torama, Goblin, Dhalmel, Crawlers, Crabs, Flies
You can carry on fighting Valley of Sorrow monsters after gaining Lv60, but the XP will soon begin to slow. At the late stages of the zone ATT+ food is definitely the way to go, as long as you still aren t missing the giant birds a lot.
Fighting Torama in Ononzo can be hard as they will throw status after status on you. Not only that, it is the two worst status effects we can have cast on us; silence and paralyze. If your White Mage starts to be lacking, tell them they have to be fast at curing your ailments or you will die. These also hit extremely quickly, so timing your heals can be extra hard.
After finishing up your time in Ononzo you can either head back to the deeper sections of the tree or brave the Goblins in the bay. I, personally, prefer to fight Crawlers and Crabs as I was sure used to fighting them and don t do dangerous AOE like Bomb Toss. Speaking of which, the Goblins in the bay seem to be able to randomly activate one Bomb Toss after the other it is the only place in the whole game I have seen it happen. It is advised to have at least two stunners when partying in the bay. Flies in the tree make for good chaining at the latter end of this level range. Even though you have over 1000 HP by this stage, you are not safe. You can still be killed in a hit, keep that in mind.
If you do go to the bay, then make sure Barfira is up as well, as every so often their suicidal Bomb Tosses can hit for amazingly high damage (1,000+) if it is near full HP. The Dhalmel can give themselves Berserk effect (ATT+, DEF-). If this happens, it is the perfect time to unload a skill chain. You will find this time very dangerous, as you will take over double damage per hit. Luckily the hits are slow so you can get in your big cures. Some players prefer to dispel the effect away because they hit you for so much.
When you hit Lv65 you gain access to Swift Blade. You may be asked to take part in Lv3 chains, which is hard. We aren t really made for gaining TP and we have no real accuracy improving stuff, but you have to put up with it.
Level 70-75

XP Locations: Bibiki Bay / Kuftal Tunnel / King Ranperre s Tomb / Moon / SkyMonsters: Goblins, Dhalmel, Rabbits, Eft, Tigers, Cockatrice, Ghosts, Skeletons, Weapons
The start of this range is all about Bibiki Bay. As I mentioned above, you need to have the latest expansion pack to access this area. When fighting the Dhalmel, look out for Berserk as mentioned above. Make sure your White Mage keeps Barfira up at all times to protect against those super suicidal bombs! You will find that this zone dries up about Lv73. If you do fight Eft (usually to keep a chain alive) watch out for a dispel AOE move they have while will randomly take away a buff you have on, such as protect or shell.
Kuftal Tunnel will cap at about the same level, but you can grind through these areas if you cannot access the others. Tigers are very annoying because of the AOE paralyze ability, so you just have to hope your White Mage is quick at helping you out. Also, avoid this zone if you do not have a White Mage at all, as the petrify ability from the Cockatrices can be deadly to us.
Moon can be accessed as long as one of your party members has a Moon Gate Pass. You would fight Weapons and Golems in there. Unfortunately, the XP really caps at around Lv73/74 in there as well, so things can get really slow. Watch out for Smite of Rage, you can disengage and run out of range if you time it right so no damage will be done.
The Tomb is alright XP and you can get up to Lv75 there fighting Ghosts, and Skeletons. The AOE drain and AOE blind that the skeletons can dish out is quite annoying, but you just need to put up with it. I found most White Mage just got to lazy and did not bother removing blindness since you will get it pretty much every fight. Ghosts can deal out AOE curse as well, which adds to down time.
The last and best place to XP in for this range is Sky, an area only accessible through completing Zilart Mission 14. This is a hard area to get access to and without it levelling after Lv73 will become extremely difficult. Take the time to progress through the Zilart story, even if you find it boring, purely to make your levelling experience much better as you get to end game. Sky is a selection of small zones linked together by pads which teleport you all over the place and is also home the Gods of Vana diel. You will be fighting Weapon type monsters here as well and concentrating on chaining them for consistent XP. Use the Weapon fighting tips listed above. If you haven t started cracking out the best food on offer, now is really the time.

If that doesn’t work and you need FFXI gil fast I recommend The MMORPG Exchange Final Fantasy XI Gil providers. They’ve been in business since the game started, delivers directly to your mog house even when you’re away, and are fairly priced. Check your ffxi server here .

XI GIL MAKING GUIDE (Final Fantasy 4 rom)

This is a comprehensive guide to earning gil in Vanadiel. I have been able to make 15k gil from 1 hour’s work, easily, and on some days I was able to make about 20-30k per hour! It all depends on your luck. Occasionally, with the top listed method, you’ll even be able to make 50-70k in a single hour if you’re lucky. Listed below are all of my methods, some of which you can use, and leave running while you’re out adventuring, or using the other methods! The strategies are listed in order of how profitable they are. The top strategies will earn you the most gil, while the bottom ones will earn less, but are still fairly profitable ways to make some extra cash.

#1: MINING…

This can be done by any character, of any level. The only catch is you have to be in Bastok. Darksteel ore sells for 5-10k gil. This will be your primary money-maker. Iron ore sells for 600-700 gil each, so you will also be saving up those pieces of iron, as they are far more common than darksteel, and can make you almost as much money by sheer amount of iron you mine compared to the relatively low amout of darksteel you will mine. Zinc sells for 300-500 gil, so if you are hard-up for money you can also sell that. There are other types of ore such as copper, tin, and silver, but they are not as profitable, and in about an hour’s time, you can have your inventory completely full of iron, and if you’re lucky you might have a piece or two of darksteel as well.

Here is the exact way to do it:

First, you need to have at least 200 gil to get you started, preferably about 1000 to 7000 gil. Completely clear out your inventory, including weapons and armor. You won’t be needing them in the mines, and this makes room for your mining finds. There is a small shop in the Bastok mines district of town, Boytz’s Knickknacks, beside the weapon shop and the armor shop. It’s a goods/items shop. It’s easy to find on the map. Next you go into the store, head for the back room, and buy pickaxes from Boytz. He’s got tons of them at 200 gil each. You’re going to need about 36 of them to most efficiently mine, but you can do it with as little as 1-2. They break sometimes after you mine with them, so the first few times you go mining, if you only have a few pickaxes, don’t get discouraged… you’ll just need to buy a few more pickaxes when you get some money saved up from your finds. Just sell whatever metals you get in the Auction House, and use the profit you make to buy even more pickaxes, until you can finally afford 36.
The next step is to head into the mines. On the far left side of the map is a small circle drawn with what looks like a pencil. This is the entrance to the Zeruhn mines. You simply enter the mines and follow the left wall. Once you’re in, you need to keep following the left wall, until you go down to a lower level where the walls change to rock instead of bricks. We’ll call this mining home point. Now what you’re going to need to do, is follow the left or right wall until you get back to mining home base, all the while searching for something called a ‘mining point’ The mining point is a targetable spot on the wall, which is hard to find just by clicking alone. You’re going to need to use the TAB key. What I do, is follow the right hand wall while repeatedly pressing the tab key until I get a mining point in my crosshairs. When I find it, I mine it until it disappears, then continue following the right wall until I get back to mining home point. Then I start all over, until I’m either out of mining pickaxes, or my inventory is full.
Once you find a mining point, walk up to it as close as you can. Open your ‘items’ menu and click on your pickaxes, then click ‘use’. Once you have clicked ‘use’ a small blue arrow should pop up over the mining point, provided you have the mining point in your field of view on the screen. You’ll see your pickaxe swing, and you’ll get a piece of rare metal. Normally, I just throw everything away except for iron and darksteel, because these are the most profitable metals to sell, and you can fill up your inventory AND bank with iron in less than a couple hour’s mining effort! Normally, this is what I would do, but if you’re just starting out as a miner, and have very little money for pickaxes, I recommend you take everything you mine to the auction house and sell it. Every pickaxe helps. Don’t keep pebbles though, unless you really want to. They sell really low in the AH, but you might get lucky.
One other thing worth mentioning: If you’re level 5 or so, take a weapon with you. Those worms drop ores sometimes, and you might get an iron ore or two from killing them. (Thought it couldn’t hurt to throw that in.)
That was the hard part. Now is the easy part… selling your goods in the auction house. You should have about 30-50 pieces of iron and 1-3 pieces of darksteel after about an hour or two’s work. The iron pieces sell for 500 gil to 700 gil easily, and the darksteel pieces sell for about 5k to 10k. Doing the math, that looks like about 30k gil for an hour’s work. The only thing you have to worry about now is finding a way to list all of your metals in the auction house with only 7 sales slots. I highly recommend you buy another playonline content ID from the Playonline viewer. It only costs an extra dollar per month, but you can use it to make a new character on your server to help you sell. I call this an auction mule. Also with this mule, you can scout Winhurst and San’Doria and find out which city has the best prices for the darksteel and iron! Did you know that there is an NPC outside every auction house that will deliver items for you to any other character in the game’s mog house? You simply click on the NPC, type the recipient’s name into the field and click OK, then you put the item you wish to trade in the slot and click OK again to have it sent to him. Using this NPC, you can send your entire stock of iron to another city where the ores are more profitable. On my server, the ore sold the best from San’Doria, so I recommend you send the money to a mule character in San’Doria for the selling, and if you REALLY want to step up the sales, you can buy 2 extra content ID’s for a small 2 dollars per month, and have 2 auction mules. Just scout the other cities, find out where the ores are selling the best, and sell there. If you REALLY want to get stuff sold fast you can sell from Bastok too, since the price shouldn’t be too much different from San’Doria or Winhurst, and you’ll have plenty to supply them with anyway… which leads me to another point. If you sell the ores for lower than the average sale price, you’re going to kill the market for it. I highly suggest you sell for the same price as everyone else, using the ‘price history’ button, or you risk ruining the ore sales for yourself and everyone else. Besides, it sells very fast. You shouldn’t have to worry about anything.
Well, that’s about it for the mining aspect of the guide. You can easily make 20-30k per hour doing this, and I have had many times when I filled up my 7 auction house slots with iron ore for 650 gil each, and then logged over to my auction mule to list 7 more, and by the time I got back over to my main character all 7 pieces of the ore were sold and I had to repeat the whole process! Darksteel is pretty easy to get and very profitable, also. I was able to get 2 pieces of darksteel in under an hour, and those alone are worth 7-8k gil each! One last thing: I always listed them for sale in the Bastok Auction House, but friends are telling me they sell quicker in the Jeuno one… food for thought. You might make better money if you take a character or two to Jeuno and park them there just to sell at the AH there! Good luck with the mining! I wish you only the best of luck from now on, because you’re on your own, and no longer need my help!

METHOD #2: REPEATABLE WARP QUEST

With this method you can make about 5-10k gil per hour depending on your server. You can only do this once per character, so you’ll need to make a mule for this specific purpose. You need to give your new character about 1k gil with which to purchase some slime oil from the auction house, then you take the slime oil to an NPC named ‘Unlucky Rat’ in the Metalworks district of Bastok. You then give him the oil in exchange for a warp scroll, which sells in the auction house for 7-10k gil. However, to do this quest you have to have a certain amount of fame built up. You must run around town doing low level missions to get your fame increased until you have enough fame for him to take your slime oil. This is the part that takes about an hour to complete. Once you get the warp scroll, you simply send it to your main character, delete the quest mule, and make another new quest mule and start all over.
If you do this for 10 hours, you can earn up to 100k gil, depending on your server. There are multitudes of websites right now with final fantasy strategies and information. You can use these to find out which quests you need to complete to get high enough fame to complete this quest, simply by going to your favorite search engine and typing, ‘Final Fantasy xi strategies quests’ in the search field. This is a pretty good way to make money too, although not as good as mining.

METHOD #3: JUSTICE BADGE QUEST

The justice badge quest is in Winhurst. All it needs is 1 rarab tail. You can buy a stack of rarab tails in the auction house for about 50-100 gil. In Winhurst Ports area in Winhurst, find an NPC named Kolo Lakolo and talk to him to get the quest, then give him the tail. In return you get the justice badge. Badges sell in the auction house for anywhere from 500-4000 gil from what I hear. Once you get the justice badge, give 4 wild onions to the same quest giver, and supposedly you’ll get a scroll that sells in the auction house for 5k on some servers!!! You can only do this quest one time per character, so it’s best to do it with an alternate, or ‘mule’ character, so you can do it over and over again, and just buy the wild onions and rarab tails with your main character to send to your new characters. You can make almost as much money doing this method as with the mining method.

METHOD #4: WORKING THE AUCTION HOUSE

This is a very simple method, which can prove extremely profitable. It’s easy to do. All you do is make 1 auction mule in each of the 3 major cities. Next you compare prices on items in that city with prices in the other cities. If the prices are lower, you buy the item and send it to your character in the other city. You then sell the item from the more profitable city, and BAM you have profit. Very easy, very simple.

METHOD #5: FIRE CRYSTAL FARMING

There are two ways to farm fire crystals. You can do it as low as level 4, but I recommend you get to level 7-10. It’s fairly simple. You get signet cast on you at your local town gates, then head out to north gusterburg where there are a lot of vultures. You kill the vultures, and nothing but the vultures, until you have a stack of fire crystals. Stacks of fire crystals sell in the auction house for about 1000-3000 gil. Very good money and you can get a stack and a half of fire crystals in about an hour.
The other way is to actually FARM the fire crystals. LOL. You buy a brass flower pot in the auction house, several vegetable seeds and some water crystals. You plant the flower pot in your mog house, and put in the vegetable seeds. You feed it water crystals now and then, and after 1-3 days you will have 17 fire crystals come out of it! I have heard rumors that you won’t always get fire crystals, but you can have I think 6-8 flower pots per house, so if you use an auction mule to garden as well, you can make some really good money… 10-30k every 2-3 days for each account, minus the cost of the seeds and the water crystals. Also, I think that all gardening combinations yield something that can be sold, so you may find a combination that gives something even better than fire crystals! Just experiment! A flower pot is a very cheap investment, and if you are disappointed with the result, you’re not losing much money anyway!

METHOD #6: CRAWLER SILKS

In the area right outside Winhurst, Sarataruba I think it’s called, you will find crawlers. They look like big caterpillars. They have a chance to drop silks which sell in the auction house for 1k each on some servers.

METHOD #7: FUNGAURS

I was told by a high level Japanese player to hunt Fungaurs in the La Thiene plateau area. If you have signet these drop dark crystals which are, on some servers, as valuable as Fire Crystals.

METHOD #8: PALBROUGH MINES

If you are level 15+, you can kill the Quadavs in Palbrough mines solo. I was able to earn about 5-10k per hour doing this by selling the items they drop, including back plates, fetich items, and the occasional spell.

METHOD #9: BEESWAX

At about level 10, give or take a few levels, you can kill any giant wasp you see, and take their honeycombs. Once you get several of them, you can combine them together to make beeswax, which sells in the auction house for a lot of money. It sells for around 15k, if I’m not mistaken, but you might want to check the auction house and see how much they’re selling for before persuing this method. If they really are worth 15k each, you can make some SERIOUS money using this method!

METHOD #10: GOBLIN ARMOR

In many areas of the game, from Bastok to San’Doria to WInhurst, there are goblins afoot. Many of these drop goblin armor, which sells for a good bit in the auction house, to the tune of 400-1000 gil each piece, and the pieces drop pretty often. Combined with the fire crystals they give you if you have signet cast on yourself, you can easily make 5k-10k per hour doing this method, and if you’re a thief with treasure hunter, you can do REALLY well doing this.

METHOD #11 FIEND BLOOD/GOBLIN ARMOR/FIRE CRYSTALS:

As soon as you leave Bastok through the south gate, I believe you come to an area I believe called south Gusterburg. Go west as far as you can go until you see an area on the edge of the map called the Fumaroles. You can’t miss the Fumaroles if you’re heading to the Valkurm Dunes area from Bastok. Anyway, to the west of the Fumaroles is a big cave in the wall, leading to a set of mines. Inside are goblins and other monsters that are hard to kill unless you’re about level 15. The goblins drop goblin armor and fire crystals, which both sell well, but there’s a little monster in a secluded area called… I think it’s called a ‘pincushion’. It’s a little blob looking thing that you can miss pretty easily. On the floor of the room they’re in there should be 2-3 pincushions. They all have a pretty good chance to drop an item called fiend’s blood that sells for 500-1000 gil if I remember correctly. I killed about 5-7 of them and got 2-3 bloods, so I guess it’s a 20-50% chance to get one. I believe these sell well in the auction house if you want to try it out so check before you go try this method and see how much they’re worth on your server. Combined with the money you can make from the goblin armor and fire crystals, this method is slightly better than the other goblin areas for loot drops! Also, there’s a treasure chest somewhere in the area that sometimes contains valuable items! I think you have to find a key to get into the chest, and the key is usually dropped from monsters in the area. If I remember correctly I got it off a goblin that was casting spells. It might have been a shaman. I can’t remember which one. You might be able to get the key from any of the goblins in the area, or even the other monesters. I’m not sure. Try it out, you might get lucky and get a tropical shield, 500 gil, or even better!

METHOD #12: LUMBER

Go to your local carpentry guild, and buy as many stacks of lumber as are available. I have heard reports that as soon as the guild opens, many or all of the lumber is bought out, so you’ll have to work at it to get them. The good news: They cost about 70 gil per stack, and sell for 2000+ gil in the Auction House on many servers!

METHOD #13: RAM HUNTING

This is for higher levels… Rams are about level 21-24 so I hear, and spawn in the Konschtat Highlands and LaThiene Plateau areas. Just search for them until you find one. They are supposedly really easy to kill, and spawn all the time. Each one drops 1-6 Ram Hides, which sell for about 500-1k gil each from what I’m told. Also they drop 1-5 Ram Horns, which sell for about 2k each!! If you are a ranger or Beastmaster it helps a lot because you have wide scan, which helps you find them faster, but it’s not needed. Good money to be made Ram hunting if you know where they spawn and you’re high enough level to handle them!!! Also, I’m not sure where, but there are some spots online with spawn locations, so just open up google.com and in the search field type something like ‘lathiene konschtat ram spawn location’ or something to that effect. It might be random though.

METHOD #14: SINKING LURES

On the Muhara Selbino boat they sell sinking lures which sell on the auction house for a pretty good chunk of change. You can buy them for about 500 gil off the merchant, and on some servers, they sell in the auction house for up to 2500 gil!!!

METHOD #15: GOBBUE HUNTING

At around level 30, it’s safe to hunt the Gobbues in the Pashhow Marshes near the highlands… I’m not sure, but I think they give crystals and other loots, but the important one they drop is Buyahdu moss. You can get a stack of moss in about a half hour to an hour of killing them. I’m not sure about how much they sell for in the Auction House, but I know that you can take them to a man near some sheep in Selbina for 600 gil each, PLUS fame with Bastok, Jeuno and San’Doria! In 1-2 days you can max out all those fames using this trick, plus 7.2k gil per stack of the moss isn’t bad money! They also drop cuttings which are worth quite a bit! Try it out if you’re level 30+! It’s excellent money and faction combined!

METHOD #16: LEAPING LIZZY HUNTING

Most people already know this one, but Leaping Lizzy is a notorious monster at about F-8 in South Gusterburg that spawns in the middle of groups of lizards! He’s about level 10-11, so look for him, if you think you can handle him! He drops ‘Leaping Boots’ that sell for 200k!!!

METHOD #17: VALKURM EMPEROR

If you are level 30+, or have a skilled party, each about 23-27, you can hunt the Emperor. He drops a hairpin that sells for 200 to 400k gil!!!! He spawns just West of Selbino, and just North of the beach in Valkurm Dunes, right on the border of D-8 and E-8, and also possibly near some trees somewhere near there. He spawns every hour or two.

METHOD #18: NINJA TRIALS

For this method, you have to be a Ninja. You pull off some really good sneak/invis tricks to finish the first part of this method, and if you aren’t careful you could die unless you’re level 40-50. Sneak oils should be fine for keeping you alive, but there’s a chance after you open the chest in the Utsusemi method that you might get attacked and killed. I recommend for all the methods together, you have at least 7-10 sneak oils. A good idea is to just change to a level 1 job before starting, that way if you die you only lose experience in a job you don’t really need. With this method you can earn 200k+ easily, but getting the fame up high enough to do the quests involved takes a few days. Make sure you have a silver beast coin as well, before attempting these quests.
To get the fame, you must farm 200 to 250 Yaggudo Necklaces (Yes, I said 200 to 250) in Giddeus, East Sarutabaruta or West Sarutabaruta. These drop from all Yagudo creatures (As far as I know). To get the fame bonus, when your inventory is full of the necklaces, go to Nanaa Mihgo at J-3 in Windhurst Woods. After you’ve turned in a lot of necklaces, like 100-200, go to Lower Jeuno, to the Neptune’s Inn near the Auction House. There is an NPC there, behind the counter, who sells rice balls. Once you get the price of the rice balls to go below 150-155 gil each, you will be ready to do the next step of this method (Each time you turn in 7 sets of 4 Yagudo necklaces to Nanaa Mihgo the price of the rice balls drop by 4).
Once you get the price of riceballs down to 150-155, go to Norg. Laisrean at H-7 is the giver of your first quest, which takes only about 2 minutes if you do it right. He asks you to get an item for him from the Sea Serpent’s Grotto. The easiest way to get the item is simple: You might want to get a scroll of instant warp before you begin, and be sure you have a few sneak oils, like 5-10. Another option for the quick warp is to reset your job to one of your level 1′s and just get killed at the end so you don’t have to walk back, or lose any experience, since it’s a level 1 job. Be sure you’re using your sneak oils throughout the entire quest so you don’t get killed. Zone into Sea Serpent’s Grotto from Norg through the door. The path splits to the left and to the right once you go through the door. The left way leads to the Yuhtunga Jungle, so take the right on spath. From now stay on the LEFT wall. You’ll see an ornamented door, so go LEFT as soon as you see the door. Continue following the left hand wall once you pass the door until you come to a large room with water puddles on the floor, and lots of Sahagins. Follow the right wall once you get to the room and you’ll see another door. Examine this door several times until you get a message about silver shavings or something, then trade your silver beast coin to it and the door opens. There are Pugils on the other side of the door, so watch out. After the Pugils, continue on, trying not to fall off of any edges. Eventually, to the right you’ll see a dropoff. Walk off it and keep going straight. Now, watch out for the drop on the left, which will make you fall and have to start all over. You’ll come to a stone door which leads to the treasure room. Watch out for the Sea Monster. He’ll attack you if you’re not sneaking so watch it. The second set of chests has a ??? which is what you need to click on to get the key item that lets you finish the quest. Once you click on it, you might get aggrod by a Pugil or something, so be careful. Opening chests makes you lose sneak. Get this, and you’re home free! Just find your way out, and go back to the quest giver for your reward, which is the Ninja Utsusemi: Ichi scroll which is worth 100-200k gil.

The next phase of this quest involves getting the Hojo: Ichi Ninja scroll. The quest giver is Washu at J-8 in Norg. You have to take the empty barrel he gives you and fill it with Opo-Opo broth which is found inside a tree in the Yhoator Jungle. Return to him with this liquid and you’ll recieve the Hojo: Ichi scroll which is worth 50k gil. This quest should take maybe an hour, give or take, depending on your luck. Here’s how you do it: You might want to grab a scroll of instant warp before you go, so you don’t have to run all the way back to Norg.
To get to the Yhoator Jungle, just go through the nearby Yuhtunga Jungle. Once you’re there, basically what you do is walk around trying to find the ??? which should be a tree that has the Opo-Opo in it. Just run around hitting Tab all over the Jungle until you find it. Don’t get discouraged if it starts to take a long time. It’s pretty random sometimes, and people have bad luck as well as good! Just make sure you search the whole Jungle and don’t miss any spots, and you’ll eventually find it! Head back to the quest giver and he’ll give you your reward!

In the next and final quest you’ll be going after yet another Ninja scroll… the Tonko: Ichi which is worth 30-50k. The quest giver for this final quest is Keal at H-8 in Norg. This quest is simple. You just go into Sea Serpent’s Grotto via the same entrance you entered to get there for the first quest, only you follow the right wall instead of the left! After going through a total of 3 doors, you’ll come tot he storage room. In the right corner there’s an iron box with the key item for the chest! That’s all there is to it!

METHOD #19: SARUTARU COTTON

In the Weaver’s Guild in Winhurst, you can buy Sarutaru Cotton for 30 gil a puff, and sell it in the AH for 3.5k gil per stack!!!!

METHOD #20: STRANGE LUMBERJACKING

In the Jungur Forest there are enemies that spawn called walking trees. To kill these you’ll need to be level 30+ but I’d recommend 35+ to be safe. The ranger wide scan ability helps a lot because spawns aren’t as common. They drop dew which sells for 50-70k per stack!

METHOD #21: BEADEAUX OOZES

You have to be pretty high level to kill these, I’d say 50 to be safe. Go to G-7 in the Beadeux area. There are oozes that spawn there every 5 min and they drop dodge earrings that sell for about 50k in the Auction House. There
is also a Notorious Monster that spawns right next to it, that drops plantbane, which sells for about 10k. In between
spawns, hunt old quadavs. They drop 50 gil as well as
quadav helmets which go for about 1k in the Auction House.

METHOD #22: GROUPING!!

Money is really great if you just group and level up, and HAVE FUN!!!! Just thought I’d throw that in for the sake of not taking the game too seriously.

UNTESTED METHODS:
(I haven’t tried the following methods yet, but in order to give you the full extent of my knowledge on gil-making in the game, I’m including them, as well. Please note that in my auction description I stated that there are 21 strategies in the guide, so that nobody would be disappointed that I havent tried some of these strategies!)

METHOD #23: LOGGING

With lumberjacking you buy hatchets instead of mining picks, and you go to Fort Ghelsba near San’Doria for all of your work. Hatchets can be bought from Ostalie in San’Doria somewhere around F-9 and E-9. They cost about 500 gil each, and sometimes can be bought at the Auction House for about 5k gil per stack. I recommend that you take with you at least a stack of hatchets, but if you’re on a budget you can probably get started with as few as 3 or 4. Take some wind crystals with you as well, before you venture out to start mining. I recommend at least 1 whole stack, if not 2. The mobs in the first level of Fort Ghelsba are only level 6-8, so if you’re level 10-11 you should be fine, and might want to leave all of your armor behind so you have more room in your inventory for the logs and lumber that you cut. I recommend that you completely clear out your inventory, unless you’re a low level.
After you have supplies, you’ll next need to go to Fort Ghelsba, which is close to San’Doria. To get there, you have to first go through West Ronfaure, then to Ghelsba Outpost. You must then pass through Ghelsba Outpost to get to the Fort area. The only spot you’ll need to worry about for logging is the first level of the fort. The other levels should be avoided.
Once you reach Fort Ghelsba, much like mining, run around while hitting ‘TAB’ until you see a logging point. When you see it, run up to it, and open your ‘items’ menu. Click on your hatchets, then click ‘use’. Once you have clicked ‘use’ a small blue arrow should pop up over the logging point, provided you have the logging point in your field of view on the screen. You’ll see your hatchet swing, and you’ll get a piece of rare wood, in the form of a log. Logs don’t stack with each other, and thus take up a lot of inventory space, but if you brought wind crystals with you, you can turn some of them into stackable lumber, to free up room for more. The logs you can turn into lumber using wind crystals are dependent on what your carpentry levels are, but they rise as you successfully turn more logs into lumber, so eventually this doesn’t matter as much. At the early levels in carpentry, arrowood and maple are the only ones you should make into lumber. The other logs you get will have to sit in your inventory, taking up an entire inventory slot. Once you get more carpentry skill, this will change, so don’t worry. You’ll be much more efficient at it very soon . At the lower levels it’s actually possible to turn ash into lumber as well, but it’s recommended that you don’t try until level 5-ish in carpentry, so you don’t lose a ton of wind crystals trying to synthesize it, and risking the loss of the log itself in a failure. Willow, Holly, and Elm logs should NOT be synthesized until you’re level 6 or higher. If you have anything lower than level 6 in carpentry, you’ll fail. I HIGHLY recommend that you don’t try to synthesize elm logs at all, as they’re your biggest money making logs, and the risk of losing one is too great to try to synthesize it into lumber.
It helps to have another content ID to earn the most money from logging. These only cost an additional $1.50 per month, and the profits you can earn with the help of another ID are definitely worth $1.50 per month. Primarily, the extra content ID will be used for extra Auction House sales slots, and storage. You can log for twice as long if you have an entire character devoted to log/lumber storage, and it helps greatly to have the extra Auction House slots as well, selling the logs with both characters using all their Auction House slots. Before you start selling your logs with your extra content ID, I suggest that you make a level 1 character in each of the starting cities, and check the Auction House prices for Ash, Holly, Elm, Arrowood, Willow, and Maple logs/lumber. If one of them has really good prices on your server, you may wish to keep your extra content ID character in that city, sending the lumber/logs that you want to store on him via the NPC at every auction house, that lets you instantly send items to another character, no matter where they are. You can sell the logs/lumber entirely on this other character, while just doing your mining on the main one, or you can sell them in both Auction Houses, for faster sales. Both methods have positive sides, depending on how often you mine, and have surplus logs/lumber left over, with no room to store them.
That’s basically all I know about logging! Supposedly you can earn much more money with logging than with mining, but you have to work fast, and log as quickly as possibe, so nobody else catches the logging points first!

METHOD #24: SPOOKS/TRAVELLER’S MANTLE
If you go to King Ranperrs Tomb in East Ronfaure, you can kill a spook that drops a Travelers Mantle which sells for about 30k in the Auction House. You need to be about level 15 or higher to safely kill it, and they only come out at around 20:00 according to the game clock.

METHOD #25: ICE ELEMENTAL ORES

For this method, you need a porcelean pot, a tree sapling, and several ice crystals. All of these can be found on the Auction House. Next, go to your house and plant the tree in the pot in the Mog House. Supposedly, it takes about 21 real life days to grow into an Ice Ore. I’m not clear on whether you have to feed it an ice crystal as soon as you plant it or not, but after 5-7 real life days, the Moogle should tell you that your plant is hungry, at which time you should definitely feed it an ice crystal. Again, on about the 14th to the 17th day, you should get a message that your plant is hungry, so feed it another ice crystal. On about the 21st day, you should notice that the plant is glowing. This is when you harvest it for the Ice Crystal, which sells on the Auction House for 200k to 500k gil depending on the server you’re on!!! You can grow more than one sapling at a time in your mog house, so it’s possible to make a LOT of money doing this!! If you have another content ID, or more than one, you can use them for the extra Mog House slots for even MORE money!!! The content ID costs, what, $1.50 per month? That’s worth several million gil profit in my opinion!

First of all, you will need a lv 40 BRD with white mage, or red mage sub job. You also need access to the area Riverne Site #A01. (You will also need at minimum, Siren Flute (I cannot stress this enough, as without this instrument you will not be able to kill any) for Requiem +2 as well as a few CHR pieces to help make sure songs land)(Fleetool comes extremely handy when doing this, as you will learn when you get used to this)

Ruby quads farming (Final Fantasy Gil)

if you are farming things like ruby quads in qulun dome, you know in the first room 2 other quads spawn with the ruby .After the last update, ffxi implemented a ‘fail safe’ way to stop mpk’ing people (well not exactly fail safe) To get claim easy on ruby quad, after the first two quads spawn, aggro them (run in their sight, cast magic on them, ect) and get both to chase you and after they are chasing you, zone back out to beadeaux and then back into qulun dome back to your camping spot. The mobs will dissapear from the zone now cause of the mpk update but it takes them about 2-5 minutes to respawn in their original spots giving you time to spam for ruby quad or get an easy target on him!
